Vase Lamp from West German Pottery - Fat Lava with Woven Thread Shade | 45 cm
A striking unique piece from the 1970s: This upcycled table lamp was created from an original West German Pottery handle vase with a distinctive fat lava glaze. The intense orange glaze with dark relief knobs is reminiscent of glowing lava. The bulbous shape with the two side handles is typical of the ceramic design of this period and makes the vase a decorative eye-catcher even when unlit.
The combination with the modern lampshade is particularly exciting. The cylindrical shade is not classically covered with fabric, but is manufactured using an elaborate weaving technique. Fine, colored nylon threads are guided around the shade body under tension. The semi-transparent construction creates a fascinating play of light when switched on: the colors appear significantly more intense, while the light penetrates softly and atmospherically through the gaps in the weave. The interplay of orange, red, yellow, and green harmonizes perfectly with the strong glaze of the vase and emphasizes its 70s character.
Like all lamps from Roomlight Studio, this unique piece was carefully converted into a table lamp. The collector's value of the vase is preserved as no drilling was carried out. The reversible plug-in solution allows it to be returned to its original condition at any time. The lamp base is additionally weighted, ensuring a secure stand.
