Bay Keramik 83/20 Vase Lamp by Bodo Mans

This special accent lamp is based on an original vase by Bay Keramik – model 83/20 – designed by Bodo Mans in the 1960s/70s. The vase is one of the characteristic designs of German studio pottery of that era, combining a clear, almost archaic form with an expressive lava glaze in black-brown and white-grey.

Particularly beautiful is the strong contrast between the dark ceramic base and the softly flowing white glaze, which looks almost like melted snow. The simple handle further emphasizes the sculptural effect of the form.

The handmade lampshade was covered with a Japanese fabric depicting stylized dogs on a dark grey background. Due to the reduced black-and-white design, the fabric harmonizes exceptionally well with the vase and creates a very calm, graphic light when switched on.

Conversion to a lamp
The vase was converted into a lamp with careful preservation of the object. No holes were drilled, so the original condition and collector's value of the ceramic are fully maintained.

The lamp is powered by a rechargeable LED bulb and is completely cable-free. Charged via USB-C, lighting duration up to approx. 12 hours. The light source is dimmable and can be controlled by remote control. Multiple light colors adjustable. Also suitable for sheltered outdoor areas such as balconies or terraces.
