Bay Keramik Vase Lamp "Bodo Mans" – Cordless Table Lamp with Handcrafted Lampshade
This cordless table lamp was upcycled from an icon of German ceramic design from the 1970s: a distinctive relief ceramic with an orange pattern by Bodo Mans for Bay Keramik. It is paired with a handcrafted lampshade featuring an expressive botanical motif. The interplay of the vase's unusual amphora shape with its light blue-green relief glaze and the graphic leaf design of the shade creates an accent lamp with exceptional lighting.
The vase comes from one of the most famous design series by Bodo Mans from the 70s, whose works for Bay Keramik are valued for their plastic reliefs, vibrant glazes, and the unmistakable character of West German Pottery. The round medallion or amphora shape with side handles, in particular, makes this model a very special representative of this design era.
The handcrafted lampshade was covered with a high-quality cotton fabric in shades of green, petrol, and mustard. The large-format leaf motif harmoniously picks up the colors of the ceramic and the botanical relief of the vase, and when illuminated, creates a pleasantly warm, lively lighting atmosphere.
Dimensions: Lamp overall 35 cm high, vase 18 cm high, 15 cm wide and 4 cm deep, lampshade oval 23 cm wide, 13 cm deep and 19 cm high.
Gentle conversion to a lamp
The original vintage vase was converted into a lamp without drilling and with a reversible plug-in solution. This preserves the collector's value of the ceramic. The lamp base was also weighted and stands securely and stably.
Cordless lighting
The lamp is equipped with a rechargeable LED light source that is conveniently charged via USB-C. Depending on the brightness, the lighting duration is approximately 6–12 hours. Brightness and light color can be adjusted using the included remote control. This makes the lamp suitable not only for sideboards and shelves, but also for dining tables, windowsills, balconies, or patios – entirely without bothersome cables.
Since the light source is a standard model, it can be easily repurchased at any time if needed.
