Bay Keramik Vase Lamp "Bodo Mans" – Cordless Table Lamp with Handmade Lampshade
This cordless table lamp was upcycled from an icon of 1970s German ceramic design: a striking relief ceramic with an orange pattern by Bodo Mans for Bay Keramik. It features a handmade lampshade with an expressive botanical motif. The interplay of the vase's unusual amphora shape with the light blue-green relief glaze and the graphic leaf pattern of the shade creates an accent lamp with exceptional lighting.
The vase comes from one of Bodo Mans' most famous design series from the 70s. His work for Bay Keramik is valued for its sculptural reliefs, bold glazes, and the unmistakable character of West German Pottery. The round medallion or amphora shape with side handles, in particular, makes this model a very special representative of this design era.
The handmade lampshade is covered with a high-quality cotton fabric in shades of green, petrol, and mustard. The large-format leaf motif harmoniously picks up the colors of the ceramic and the botanical relief of the vase, creating a pleasant, warm, and lively lighting ambiance when illuminated.
Gentle Conversion into a Lamp
The original vintage vase was converted into a lamp without drilling and with a removable plug-in solution. This preserves the collector's value of the ceramic. The lamp base was additionally weighted and stands securely and stably.
Cordless Lighting
The lamp is equipped with a rechargeable LED light source, which is conveniently charged via USB-C. Depending on the brightness, the illumination time is approximately 6–12 hours. Brightness and light color can be adjusted via the included remote control. This makes the lamp suitable not only for sideboards and shelves but also for dining tables, windowsills, balconies, or patios – entirely without a cumbersome cable.
Since the light source is a standard model, it can be easily repurchased if needed.
