Bay Keramik Table Lamp "Bodo Mans" - Cordless Design Lamp from West German Pottery
This small, handcrafted table lamp was upcycled from an original Bay Ceramic vase from a design series by Bodo Mans. The vase lamp was fitted with an elaborately crafted lampshade made of high-quality cotton fabric. The combination of the characteristic Mid-Century relief ceramic and the large-format leaf motif of the shade covering creates an exciting contrast between vintage design and contemporary textile design.
The vase with the base mark or shape 570 / 17 comes from one of the most famous series by Bodo Mans, whose designs are still among the most popular works of West German Pottery. In particular, his expressive relief decors were trendsetting for this era. This is also true here: The strong turquoise-blue glaze, the plastic medallion relief and the striking cylindrical neck shape with handle give this ceramic its unmistakable character.
The lampshade was handmade in our Berlin workshop and covered with a translucent cotton fabric. The botanical motif in petrol, turquoise, green and mustard tones harmonizes perfectly with the glaze of the vase. When switched on, the fine lines of the fabric stand out particularly beautifully and create a warm, cozy lighting atmosphere.
Gentle conversion to a lamp
The vintage vase was converted into a lamp in our workshop without drilling and with a retrofittable plug-in solution. This ensures that the original ceramic remains completely intact and its collector's value is preserved. The lamp base has also been weighted to ensure a secure stand.
Cordless lighting
The lamp is equipped with a rechargeable LED light source that can be conveniently charged via USB-C. The battery life is - depending on brightness - about 6 to 12 hours. Brightness and light color can be individually adjusted using the included remote control. This allows the lamp to be used flexibly on sideboards, windowsills, shelves, dining tables or even on balconies and terraces - completely without cables.
The light source is a standard model and can be easily replaced at any time if required.
