Bay Keramik Vase Lamp 82 - 14 by "Bodo Mans" - Cordless Table Lamp made from West German Pottery from the 70s
This extraordinary vase lamp is part of our new Botanical Light Collection and has been upcycled from an original Bay Keramik vase from a design series by Bodo Mans. Bodo Mans was one of the influential designers of the West German Pottery era in the 50s to 70s. His works are characterized by sculptural reliefs, expressive glazes, and a distinctive design language – qualities that this small vase impressively combines.
The light blue / turquoise Fat Lava glaze is accentuated by a striking, circular relief in shades of green and yellow. As a deliberate contrast, the vase was combined with a handmade lampshade made of high-quality cotton fabric. The translucent fabric is a design from the Signapur series by Westfalenstoffe. The large-format leaf motif picks up the colors of the ceramic and gives the lamp a modern, botanical lightness. When illuminated, fine light reflections are created in the fabric, making the shade appear vibrant and creating a pleasant, warm atmosphere.
Gentle Conversion to a Lamp
The original vintage vase was converted into a lamp without drilling and with a reversible plug-in solution. This preserves the collector's value of the ceramic. The lamp base was additionally weighted to ensure a secure stand.
Cordless Lighting
The lamp is equipped with a rechargeable LED light source, which is conveniently charged via USB-C. Depending on the brightness, the lighting duration is approximately 6 to 12 hours. The brightness and light color can be individually adjusted using the included remote control. This allows the lamp to be used flexibly on sideboards, shelves, dining tables, windowsills, or even on balconies and terraces – completely without a disturbing cable.
