Fat Lava 70s table lamp by S.P. Gerz - with Pop Weave shade
Fat Lava 70s table lamp by S.P. Gerz - with Pop Weave shade
The lamp was rebuilt from a West German Pottery Vase - the combination of vintage ceramic and Pop Weave shade makes it a striking accent in any room situation.
The vase comes from S. P. Gerz, a traditional ceramic manufacturer from the Westerwald. In the second half of the 20th century, numerous decorative studio ceramics with expressive glazes were created there, which are stylistically attributed to the West German Pottery or Fat Lava era.
The vase shows a strong, two-tone glaze in bright orange with darker to black lava and running structures. The expressive surface is typical for many ceramics of this period.
Dimensions of the vase: Height: 20 cm, Width: 15 cm, Depth: 10 cm
Total height of the lamp: approx. 45 cm
The vase with a base marking and collector's value was converted into a lamp with care for the object - using a firmly anchored but reversible plug-in solution. The lamp base is stably weighted and stands securely. The vase opening was closed with a high-quality brass cap. The collector's value of the vase is fully preserved. E27 socket in black bakelite - approved up to 120 volts. Transparent cable, which leads directly into the socket from the back. In this way, no holes had to be drilled into the vase with collector's value. On request, the lamp can be converted for wireless use - price the same.
The lampshade: Diameter: 25 cm, Height: 25 cm, Material: Nylon band in bright orange and light turquoise, stretched around a shade cage.
The light is pleasantly softly filtered through the fabric and creates a warm, atmospheric lighting effect. The shade casts a beautiful stripe pattern on the surroundings.
The lamp is a unique piece made of vintage ceramic and a handmade lampshade.
