Bay Keramik "Bodo Mans" Vase Lamp – Cordless Accent Lamp made from West German Pottery
This handmade vase lamp combines the distinctive ceramic art of Bodo Mans for Bay Keramik with a modern, handmade lampshade. The combination of the sculptural relief ceramics of the 1970s and a finely patterned botanical fabric makes this lamp a special eye-catcher – timeless, homely, yet full of character.
The original Bay ceramic vase belongs to one of the most famous series by Bodo Mans, whose designs are now considered icons of West German Pottery. The detailed medallion relief, the two small handles, and the intense Fat Lava glaze in turquoise, blue, and green tones give the vase its extraordinary depth and vibrancy.
The narrow oval lampshade was handcrafted in our Berlin workshop and covered with a high-quality, translucent cotton fabric. This is a Westfalen fabric from the Signapur series - a classic from the manufacturer. The delicate leaf motif in petrol/turquoise and cream emphasizes the colors of the ceramic without competing with it. When switched on, a pleasantly soft light is created, which subtly illuminates the fabric from within.
Dimensions: Lamp total 35 cm high, vase 18 cm high, 15 cm wide and 4 cm deep, oval lampshade 23 cm wide, 13 cm deep and 19 cm high.
Gentle conversion to a lamp
The original vintage vase was converted into a lamp without drilling and with a removable plug-in solution. This preserves the collector's value of the ceramic. The lamp base was additionally weighted and ensures a secure stand.
Cordless lighting
The lamp comes with a rechargeable LED bulb that is charged via USB-C. Depending on the selected brightness, the lighting duration is approximately 6 to 12 hours. The supplied remote control allows for convenient adjustment of brightness and light color. This means the lamp can be flexibly used on sideboards, windowsills, shelves, or dining tables – as well as on balconies or terraces, completely without a distracting cable.
