It's a Match: Botanical Relief Ceramics Meet Contemporary Textile Design

The Botanical Light Collection connects two worlds that at first glance could not be more different: the expressive ceramics of Bodo Mans for Bay Keramik and contemporary botanical textile designs. The result is a collection of handmade lamps that preserve the character of West German Pottery while translating it into a modern living environment.

Bodo Mans is one of the most important designers of German studio ceramics in the 1960s and 1970s. His designs for Bay Keramik are known for their sculptural reliefs, intense fat lava glazes, and extraordinary forms. Each original vintage vase is carefully selected in our Berlin workshop and converted into a lamp without drilling, using a reversible plug-in solution. This way, the historical ceramic remains completely intact.

The counterpart is handmade lampshades made from high-quality cotton fabrics with large-format leaf motifs and finely drawn botanical structures. Their natural forms and fresh colors pick up on the blue, turquoise, and green tones of Bay ceramics and lend a surprisingly contemporary lightness to the classic vases. The fabrics appear graphic and elegant during the day, while creating a warm, cozy atmosphere when illuminated.

Each lamp in the Botanical Light Collection is a handmade unique piece. Together, they tell the story of a design classic that, through careful upcycling, high-quality craftsmanship, and modern textile design, receives a new role in the living space.
